MANILA, Philippines - A 75-year-old woman was hurt in a fire that swept through a residential compound in Pasay City yesterday.
Filomena Piedra suffered minor burns, said Senior Fire Officer 2 Mark Ryan Lanuzga.
The blaze started at around 11 a.m., reportedly from a candle left unattended, at the corner of Protacio and Ilang-ilang streets and soon reached third alarm as the flames spread to 50 houses. Firefighters from Pasay and Makati put out the fire at past 2 p.m.
The affected families were relocated to a nearby school, authorities said.
