MANILA, Philippines - A policeman reportedly shot his partner, a businesswoman, in the genitals during an argument in their house in Maypajo, Caloocan City Sunday afternoon.
Police Officer 2 Cesar Tolentino, 35, a member of the Caloocan police Special Reaction Unit, surrendered after attacking Jennifer Ferreras, 40. Tolentino is being detained at the Caloocan police headquarters and is facing frustrated homicide charges.
Ferreras is under observation at the Chinese General Hospital, police said.
According to police, Tolentino confronted Ferreras in their home at around 5 p.m. over something that reportedly made him jealous.
A relative of Ferreras said Tolentino is so jealous that he allegedly does not want his partner’s son from a previous relationship calling her.
The relative said the two had been quarrelling frequently because the policeman is allegedly very possessive and hotheaded.
A source claimed that Tolentino pointed his gun at some vendors in Monumento for “flimsy†reasons.
The police report stated that according to Ferreras’ relatives, when Tolentino tried to shoot Ferreras with his .45 caliber pistol – his service firearm – but the victim tried to turn the gun away from her as he fired.
Relatives of the victim said they will pursue the case and will not allow any settlement.
