MANILA, Philippines - Four persons were injured when a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tank exploded in a bakery in Caloocan City early yesterday morning.
Most of 24-year-old Ayin Ensoroliso’s body was burned. He was lighting up the oven at around 1:17 a.m. when the tank exploded, city fire chief Senior Fire Officer 4 Alexander Marquez said. The fire was put out around 30 minutes later.
Estelita and Irvin Libod Libod, 22 and 24; and 30-year-old baker Rodolfo Villamor suffered second-degree burns.
Arson investigators are trying to determine if Park and Go Bakeshop owners Eugenio and Angel Rama could be held liable for the accident, which Marquez said could have been prevented.
Marquez said that prior to the explosion, the employees had been smelling gas in the bakery. The owners reportedly shouldered the hospitalization of their employees.
Investigators pegged the property damage at P30,000.
