MANILA, Philippines - A tricycle driver who intervened in a fight in Valenzuela City ended in a hospital after one of the persons he tried to pacify hit him with a stone Friday night.
Christopher Cabrales, 39, is currently confined at the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center after suffering an injury on his forehead, according to Valenzuela City Police chief Senior Superintendent Rhoderick Armamento’s report to the Northern Police District yesterday.
Armamento said Cabrales sustained the injury after a still unidentified man struck him with a stone at the corner of Tamaraw Hills and Sta. Maria street in Gen T. De Leon around 9:30 p.m.
Initial investigation showed that the victim earlier intervened in an argument between the suspect and another man in Marulas. The suspect, however, got irked at Cabrales, whom he challenged to a fistfight.
Cabrales allegedly joined the fray and punched the suspect in the face. The fight was later broken up by bystanders in the area. Armamento said they are conducting follow-up investigation to identify the suspect.
