MANILA, Philippines - A 19-year-old factory worker stabbed his cousin while the victim was sound asleep in a room they shared in Pasig City Tuesday.
John Jonathan de la Paz, 25, died while being treated at the Pasig City General Hospital.
According to reports, Ronald Roxas walked out of the room after stabbing his cousin. The bloody knife he still held attracted the attention of their relatives, who rushed into the cousins’ room to check.
Roxas surrendered to police officers who came to arrest him.
Senior Police Officer 1 Michael Espares reported that Roxas is allegedly a drug addict and had not slept for several days prior to the attack.
Senior Superintendent Mario Rariza, Pasig City police chief, ordered Roxas subjected to a drug test. The suspect chose to remain silent on the allegation against him, he added.
