MANILA, Philippines - A fourth year high school student was stabbed by a fellow student in the campus of a school in Pasig City Monday.
Jeffrey Bryan Silvio, 21, was walking down the stairs of the Rizal High School at around 4:30 p.m. when Christopher Santos allegedly blocked his path and stabbed him twice with an ice pick, according to Chief Inspector Glenn Magsino, head of the criminal investigation section of the Pasig police.
Silvio managed to fend off Santos, who fled after the incident, bringing the ice pick with him, Magsino said. He added that investigators are eyeing a fraternity or gang war as a possible motive for the attack.
A school guard brought Silvio to a nearby hospital. He has been declared out of danger, said city police chief Senior Superintendent Mario Rariza.
He has ordered the filing of attempted homicide charges against Santos, who is reported to be of legal age.
