MANILA, Philippines - A nursing student jumped from a jeepney, alerting police officers on patrol to a robbery in Quezon City Wednesday night, police said yesterday.
Superintendent Victor Pagulayan, commander of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Station 11, said the robbery happened as the jeepney was moving along E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue at past 10 p.m.
Pagulayan said the police officers chased after the robbers, who ran off carrying a woman’s bag and a backpack taken from the jeepney’s passengers.
The robbers shot at the pursuing lawmen, who retaliated and killed the robbers, Pagulayan said.
The two robbers remained unidentified, said QCPD director Chief Superintendent Richard Albano. They were armed with .38 caliber revolvers, he added.
