MANILA, Philippines - Estranged couple Claudine Barretto and Raymart Santiago faced off in court Tuesday afternoon during the hearing on the actress’ petition for permanent protection order against her husband.
Both camps refused to provide details on the case due to a gag order issued by the Marikina City regional trial court.
But following the two-hour hearing, Santiago responded to allegations that Barretto was being bullied by his brother Randy.
“Randy is not saying anything... He was just protecting me. I don’t know, maybe she’s overreacting,†Santiago said in an ABS-CBN News report.
The actor said his brother did not say anything offensive against her.
Last week, Barretto accused the Santiago brothers of being bullies for ganging up on her.
She was reacting to an earlier interview of Randy, who said he believes that Raymart is not capable of hurting his wife.
Meanwhile, Barretto told reporters that she would pursue the case for her children.
She earlier accused her husband of abuse. In June, she posted a photo on Instagram showing what looked like a bruise on her face. The photo has since been deleted from her account.
Santiago has denied Barretto’s allegations. The couple, who were married in 2006, have two children.
