MANILA, Philippines - Fires broke out in the cities of Makati and Pasay yesterday.
The fire broke out at the Ayala Builders hardware store along EDSA near Magallanes at around 9 a.m., according to the Makati fire department.
The blaze damaged the second and third floors of the store.
Arson probers said the fire started in the paint storage area of the hardware.
Firefighters put out the fire after more than an hour.
Authorities are looking at a faulty electrical wiring as the cause of the fire.
Makati fire chief Ricardo Perdigon said two responding firetrucks from the Central fire station and from the Palanan station failed to reach the fire scene due to flooding along Buendia Avenue.
Perdigon said a firetruck, which was deployed to contain a fire that gutted a warehouse on Harrison street in Pasay City helped in putting out the fire in Makati.
No one was reported injured in the twin fires. – Mike Frialde, Perseus Echeminada
