MANILA, Philippines - Fires broke out at a high-rise condominium and a house in Makati City at around dawn yesterday.
City fire marshal Senior Superintendent Ric Perdigon said the first fire started at past 4 a.m. at Unit 16-B of the Urdaneta condominium at the corner of Ayala Avenue and EDSA.
He said the blaze was confined to the unit, which was unoccupied since it was being renovated. “We found paints and combustible materials in the burnt unit,†Perdigon said.
The fire was put under control after one hour and property damage was estimated at P150,000, he said.
The second fire gutted a house, reportedly owned by a doctor, in Magallanes Village. The fire also damaged the ceiling of an adjacent house, Perdigon said, pegging the property damage at around P1 million.
