Malabon official starts anti-crime drive, gets robbed

MANILA, Philippines - A barangay chairman in Malabon City, who had recently launched an anti-crime drive, came home yesterday to find that robbers had broken into his house.

Barangay Niugan chairman Roderick Fulgencio told police he lost a LED television, a home theater set, several cell phones, P75,000 in jewelry and P5,000 cash, according to a report by Police Officer 2 June Belbes.

Investigators said it was not clear how many persons broke into Fulgencio’s house or how they were able to enter, but they believe the heist involved at least three persons.

A neighbor, who asked not to be identified, said Fulgencio is known for giving criminals a tough time.
