MANILA, Philippines - A tricycle driver is facing charges for allegedly stabbing a dog in Caloocan City Friday night.
Monico Batol, 42, will be charged for violating the Animal Welfare Act of 1998 after he reportedly stabbed the dog of Marites Alvarez in Kaunlaran Village at around 9 p.m., Police Officer 2 Jonathan David said yesterday.
He said Batol went to Alvarez’s house to talk to her, but attacked Alvarez’s dog when he received no response after repeatedly calling her name.
The dog survived despite being stabbed several times, David said.
The suspect was arrested during a follow-up operation in Tondo, Manila.
