MANILA, Philippines - A woman gave birth in her employer’s bathroom in Quezon City yesterday morning, but her baby died moments after falling to the bathroom floor.
The 21-year-old mother, Georgilin Lourencio, remains confined at the East Avenue Medical Center, Senior Police Officer 1 Randy Bantillo said.
Bantillo said Lourencio prematurely gave birth at around 6 a.m. yesterday in one of the bathrooms of her employer’s townhouse in Barangay South Triangle.
Lourencio, who is single, only arrived at the house Friday night to start working as a helper. No one among the members of the household knew that she was pregnant until yesterday morning.
Fellow helper Rose Montanez said Lourencio was complaining of stomach aches and went to urinate. Montanez rushed to the bathroom after she heard Lourencio shouting for help and that she had given birth.
Montanez found the baby on the floor already lifeless. The baby fell and hit the floor hard, she said.
