MANILA, Philippines - A 35-year-old woman gave birth while riding a Light Rail Transit (LRT)-Line 1 yesterday morning.
Hernando Cabrera, LRT spokesman, said Maria Cecilia Lopez, a nurse of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. who was among the passengers, assisted Darlene Idio in her delivery.
Idio gave birth to a baby boy at 6:25 a.m. as the train passed Carriedo station.
Cabrera said Idio and her companion, William Bilon, boarded the train at Baclaran station on their way to Doroteo Jose station.
Idio experienced labor pains while the train was approaching Central Terminal, prompting guard-on-duty Michelle Manansala to seek help from the passengers.
