MANILA, Philippines - The Quezon City government has allotted more than P50 million for the acquisition of technical and scientific equipment that will transform city public schools into “green schools.â€
Mayor Herbert Bautista has given the go signal for the release of P57.2 million to develop the Old Balara Elementary School, Payatas C Elementary School, and San Bartolome High School into environment-friendly schools.
Bautista said part of the budget will be used to equip the schools with rainwater catchment facilities, indoor gardens, energy-efficient lighting fixtures, and other green technologies. The local government will also procure equipment for the development of science, speech, and computer laboratories.
The mayor said the project was part of his administration’s initiative to further improve the quality of education in the city.
