Mechanics nabbed for ‘shabu break’

MANILA, Philippines - Three car mechanics who allegedly had shabu during their lunch break were arrested in Malinta, Valenzuela City Wednesday.

Marlon Cagampang, Aristeo Ortiz, and Ruel Moralejo were charged for violating the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 after residents of San Miguel street complained.

“People passing by the auto service center can see them and they don’t care,” Senior Superintendent Eric Armamento told The STAR.

He said the three admitted that the 0.02 grams of shabu seized from them was their “lunch” for that day.

“They said they bought about P300 worth of shabu. That’s their lunch because they don’t feel weak after shabu intake,” Armamento said.

He said that after the shabu break, the three went back to fixing the cars left under their care.

“How can you fix a car properly if you’re high on drugs?” Armamento asked as he expressed concern over the safety of the car owners.
