Alleged Binondo drug gang member nabbed

MANILA, Philippines - A Filipino-Chinese man, an alleged member of the “Binondo drug group,” was arrested in a drug bust in Quezon City Sunday afternoon.

Johnson Sy, 42, reportedly tried to sell 48 grams of shabu for P180,000 to an undercover police officer at a gas station at the corner of Aurora Boulevard and Broadway Avenue in New Manila, according to Quezon City Police District director Senior Superintendent Richard Albano.

He said Sy hails from Xiamen, China and resides in Greenhills, San Juan.

Senior Inspector Roberto Razon, head of the QCPD’s District Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group, said Sy yielded two plastic sachets of shabu.

QCPD deputy director for administration Senior Superintendent Joel Pagdilao said an informant led them to arrange a meeting with Sy at the gas station and conduct the transaction in the suspect’s car.

Pagdilao said policemen traced Sy based on information they gathered from other Chinese nationals who allegedly belong to the same drug group.
