MANILA, Philippines - Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista has ordered the inspection of more than 100 bridges and footbridges in the city to ensure public safety, especially during earthquakes.
Bautista directed city engineer Joselito Cabungcal to determine the structural integrity and stability of all bridges and footbridges to enable the local government and other concerned agencies to undertake necessary measures.
“It is the city’s primordial concern to protect the people (and) to ensure their safety and protection,†Bautista said.
Cabungcal said they will form a composite team that will perform a routine inspection and assessment of the structures. The mayor gave the city engineer one month to comply with his order.
