Cancer group to hold Relay For Life

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Cancer Society (PCS) will hold the annual “Relay For Life (RFL),” a special event for cancer survivors and families and friends of cancer victims, today and tomorrow at the Quezon City Memorial Circle.

Organized by the PCS in cooperation with the city government, RFL is a unique and fun way to raise funds for cancer and to promote cancer awareness in the country. Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte spearheads the event as chairman of RFL 2013.

RFL is an 18-hour overnight camp-out activity wherein teams composed of eight to 15 people take turns walking and jogging around the oval track, camping out, and doing fun-filled activities. The event will start at 4 p.m. today and end at 6 a.m. tomorrow.

The PCS and the Philippine Society of Oncology (PSO) will also offer free clinical breast exams, mammography referrals, pap smear for cervical cancer (for scheduling) and provide free information material.
