MANILA, Philippines - A businessman resting in front of his eatery in Ermita, Manila was shot dead Friday night.
Franco Banoc, 39, died on the spot from two gunshot wounds while his unidentified killer escaped by pointing his gun and threatening to shoot Banoc’s neighbors, Police Officer 2 Crispino Ocampo said.
Aside from the eatery, Banoc owned a shop that sells liquefied petroleum gas. Witnesses interviewed by police could not say if he had enemies who wanted him dead.
Police said the gunman, described as 5’10†tall and wearing a camouflage jacket, crossed the street in front of Banoc’s eatery and shot the victim.
Neighbors chased the gunman, who pointed his gun at them. Though they kept their distance, they followed the gunman as he fled. The attacker threw a sling bag, which contained a .45 caliber pistol, some medicine, and a sleeveless shirt before escaping.
