MANILA, Philippines - The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) is looking for two unidentified men who robbed and killed a 31-year-old taxi driver in Barangay Tandang Sora at past midnight yesterday.
Rogelio Franco was found dead in the taxi he was driving at past 1:30 a.m., Senior Police Officer 1 Gregorio Maramag of the QCPD’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) said.
According to initial investigation results, witness Mark Palomar saw two men alighting from a taxi with plate number UVM-180 and walking away. He told investigators he reported the incident when he noticed that the taxi was still there minutes later.
Police said that during the ocular inspection of the vehicle, it was noted that the earnings of the victim and his personal belongings were missing.
A knife, believed to be the fatal weapon, and several latent prints were recovered from the vehicle. Franco had been stabbed several times in the head and body.
Police records show that the vehicle, which was turned over to CIDU, was later released to its registered owner, Julito Ganal.
