Man, 31, stabs uncle, 60

CEBU, Philippines - A 60-year-old man was stabbed dead by his 31-year-old nephew while quarelling Tuesday afternoon in Villa Pesta, barangay Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.

Quirino Ompad, 60, sustained two stab wounds on his neck and chest. He was no longer taken to the hospital.

Now detained at the Lapu-Lapu City police stockade is Jimmy Pepito pending the filing of charges at the Lapu-Lapu City Prosecutor’s Office.

Police said Ompad was apparently under the influence of liquor and was heading home when he met Pepito at around 5:30 in the afternoon.

Ompad reportedly scolded Pepito, who then took a bladed weapon and stabbed Ompad twice.

Both reportedly were not on good terms.

Pepito then voluntarily surrendered to the Basak barangay hall and later turned over to the police office.

Police recovered an 11.5-inch long kitchen knife suspected to have been used by Pepito in stabbing Ompad. — (BANAT NEWS)
