MANILA, Philippines - The Manila Police District (MPD) is searching for a policeman who reportedly strangled his partner in front of their children in a motel in Sampaloc, Manila Sunday afternoon.
Police Officer 2 Crispino Ocampo did not reveal the identity of the suspect but sources said the MPD’s homicide section is set to arrest PO2 Ronald Fontejon, who is assigned at the Philippine National Police headquarters in Camp Crame.
The victim was identified by her relatives as Kylie Barroca after news broke out that a woman had been killed in front of two children in the Beehive Travelers Inn along R. Magsaysay Boulevard in Sampaloc.
Ocampo said Barroca, a man and two children identified as two-year-old “Bon” and four-year-old “Yeye” checked into the motel at around 1:50 p.m. Sunday.
Two hours later, room attendant Darrell Montefalcon, 25, saw the door of the room was open and heard the two children crying. When he checked, he saw the children were on the bed and the woman – unidentified at the time – was in the bathroom with a cord looped around her neck, its other end tied to the faucet.
The motel’s surveillance camera caught the suspect walking out of the establishment a few minutes before Montefalcon discovered Barroca’s body. Ocampo said the room was in disarray, indicating there had been a commotion.
The children were turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
