MANILA, Philippines - The Supreme Court (SC) clarified yesterday the changes in the conduct of this year’s Bar exams.
Ma. Victoria Gleoresty Guerra, acting chief of SC’s public information office, said there is no immediate disqualification for examinees who will fail the 60-percent multiple-choice question (MCQ) part of the exams during checking, as mentioned in an earlier report.
Deputy Clerk of Court and Bar Confidant Ma. Cristina Layusa “wishes to clarify that there is no such rule. Regardless of the score in the MCQ, the essays will still be checked so that the examinee’s final grade in each subject will be determined,” Guerra said.
She added that the high court even abolished the rule disqualifying Bar candidates who will get a grade below 50 percent in any of the subjects.
Guerra made the clarification so as “not to cause needless anxiety on the part of the examinees.”
