Judge orders Carabuena's arrest

MANILA, Philippines - A Quezon City judge has ordered the arrest of motorist Robert Blaire Carabuena, who was caught on camera attacking a traffic constable who flagged him down for a traffic violation on Aug. 11.

Judge Juris Dilinila-Callanta of the Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 42 issued on Monday the arrest warrant against Carabuena in relation to the direct assault charges filed by Saturnino Fabros. The warrant, which was only released yesterday, set a bail of P12,000.

The video, which has since gone viral on the Internet, showed Fabros keeping his cool despite the physical assault.

Last month, the city prosecutor’s office formally filed charges against Carabuena. The Philippine National Police has also revoked his gun license.

Carabuena earlier apologized to Fabros, but the constable pushed through with the case.
