MANILA, Philippines - Two fires broke out in Manila yesterday.
The first fire started at around 8:24 a.m. in a three-story house on Karilagan street in Gagalangin, Tondo. It reached third alarm before it was put out at around 9:03 a.m. No one was reported hurt or killed in the blaze.
The second fire broke out at a three-story residential building at the corner of Murillo and P. Guzman streets in Quiapo at around 12:11 p.m. It reached fifth alarm before it was declared under control at around 1:44 p.m. The blaze was put out at around 3:23 p.m.
Manila fire chief Superintendent Bonifacio Carta said the fire was caused by a gas stove left unattended at a unit occupied by Sonia Lacsamana.
The fire affected about 300 to 400 persons living in the building.
Investigators have yet to determine the origin and estimate the damage caused by the two fires.
