MANILA, Philippines - About 50 families lost their homes when a fire struck a residential area in Tondo, Manila Monday night, destroying P2.5 million worth of property.
About 20 houses were destroyed but no one was reported injured in the fire, the cause of which has yet to be determined.
SFO2 John Joseph Jalique said the blaze started at around 8 p.m. on the second floor of a house on Padre Rada street maintained by Rodel Pelea but occupied by Milagros Alvarez.
The fire reached fifth alarm before it was put out at around 9:33 p.m.
