MANILA, Philippines - A taxi driver was charged yesterday for allegedly stealing a taxi owned by a Bulacan police officer.
Roland Abrea, 48, was arrested on Tuesday. He allegedly took a Kervin taxi, owned by Superintendent Michael Angelo Zuñiga, from its garage in Barangay Marulas, Valenzuela City, caretaker Romeo Reyes said.
Reyes said Abrea, who regularly drives for another taxi firm, sometimes drives for them as an “extra.” He said they decided to call the police after Abrea failed to return the cab.
The vehicle was confiscated from Abrea’s cousin, Rodelio Velasco, in Bulacan. Abrea claimed the taxi developed engine trouble, which prevented him from returning it to the garage.
