MANILA, Philippines - Police officers are facing a blank wall in the investigation of the strafing of the house of IBC-13 talk show host Randy David’s house in the University of the Philippines’ Diliman, Quezon City campus after the retired UP professor could not think of anyone who could be behind the attack.
Chief Inspector Rodel Marcelo, head of the Quezon City Police District-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, said he talked to David but the latter believes the attackers could not have targeted him or his wife, former Civil Service Commission chief Karina David.
According to Marcelo, he also talked to a witness who took note of the license plate attached to the Toyota Tamaraw FX used by the attackers.
The plate number was traced to another vehicle, whose owner said the vehicle and the license plates were never out of his possession.
Marcelo said they would also consider viewing the footage of the surveillance camera of David’s neighbor, but the images are unclear.
David’s house was strafed by armed men Tuesday night. He was with his granddaughter when the attack happened. They were unhurt.
