MANILA, Philippines - Two men were arrested Thursday for allegedly killing a 15-year-old honor student who refused to give up his PlayStation Portable Tuesday, officials said yesterday.
Emotions ran high when construction worker Bobby Babago, 25, and Arnold Tagalog, 30, were presented to the family of victim Rowell Cruz at the Taguig City Hall yesterday afternoon.
“They will pay for what they did to my brother. He was only playing his portable PlayStation when they attacked him,” said Cruz’s older brother, Renard, 34.
Renard, who was with the victim when he was attacked, confronted the suspects and identified them in front of Mayor Lani Cayetano and city police chief Senior Superintendent Tomas Apolinario.
According to Apolinario, the suspects were caught through the plate number of the motorcycle they were using last Tuesday. The police initially invited a certain Shirley Palacio, 45, and her son Jomar, 21, because the vehicle was registered to them.
During the investigation, Palacio revealed the whereabouts of the suspects and said she is Babago’s sister-in-law. Babago and Tagalog were charged with robbery with homicide and illegal possession of firearms before the Taguig City prosecutor’s office.
