MANILA, Philippines - Two men were killed in a shootout with policemen after they allegedly robbed a woman who had just bought milk for her child in Barangay Sangandaan, Quezon City before dawn yesterday.
Superintendent Osmundo de Guzman, commander of the Quezon City Police District Station 3, said Sheila Sevilla was waiting for a ride in front of a drug store where she had bought powdered milk when the two men robbed her of her Nokia E71 cell phone and P500. The suspects fled on foot.
Sevilla sought help from Police Officers 2 Fortunato Ignacio and Alberto del Rosario and joined them in searching for the men who robbed her.
The policemen spotted the suspects running along Gem5 Road in Barangay Baesa and accosted them. The suspects shot at the lawmen, triggering a firefight in which they were killed.
Police recovered Sevilla’s cell phone and money as well as two .38 caliber revolvers the suspects used.
