MANILA, Philippines - Two Filipinos were arrested by the judiciary police in Macau for alleged drug trafficking, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said yesterday.
Citing a report of the Philippine consulate general in Macau, the DFA said the Filipinos – a man and a woman – were apprehended on Feb. 1 in an apartment with 46 grams of shabu, which has an estimated street value of 90,000 patacas or $11,392.41. Drug paraphernalia were also found in the apartment.
A suspected buyer, also a Filipino, was also brought in for questioning.
The DFA said consulate officials extended assistance to the Filipinos to ensure that their rights are respected. There are 19 Filipinos currently detained in Macau – a special administrative region of China – on drug charges.
