Alleged Revilla gunmen seek bail

MANILA, Philippines - A lawyer representing two suspects in the Oct. 28 Ram Revilla slay has asked the Parañaque court to allow her clients to post bail, saying the evidence against them is weak.

Ana Luz Cristal filed the motion for bail before Judge Fortunito Madrona on Monday to “force” prosecutors to present their evidence against Roy Francis Tolisora and Michael Nartea, saying she will not allow them to spend Christmas in jail.

“The evidence found by the prosecution is not strong because it’s all hearsay. Everything is circumstantial. Up to now, no one can even say who really killed (Revilla),” Cristal told The STAR.

She said even the two police witnesses said her clients were replaced after they failed to kill the 23-year-old actor on Oct. 12.

Revilla (Ramgen Jose Bautista in real life) was killed inside their family’s house in BF Homes by a gunman in a Halloween mask.

Ruel Puzon implicated Revilla’s two younger siblings – Ramona and Ramon Joseph – in the crime, and said he was asked to replace Nartea and Tolisora. Puzon’s affidavit was echoed by another witness, Loyd Comeda, who said he was also approached to replace Cristal’s clients.

If Madrona grants Cristal’s motion for bail, the lawyer said she will ask the court to hold “daily” hearings.
