MANILA, Philippines - A man suspected of gunrunning was arrested by Northern-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) police officers in Valenzuela City Thursday.
Chief Inspector Manolo Salvatierra, Northern-CIDG chief, said they found two .45 caliber pistols with five magazines and a .9mm pistol with two magazines when they raided the house of Constante Aglibut, 41, in Barangay Punturin. Police also found ammunition for a .45 caliber pistol, a .9mm pistol, an air gun and a Baby Armalite pellet gun.
Senior Police Officer 4 Ric Concepcion said charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition were immediately filed against Aglibut before the office of Valenzuela City Prosecutor Esteban Molon, who recommended P180,000 bail for the suspect’s temporary liberty.
Concepcion said a few days ago, they received information about Aglibut’s alleged illegal activities.
Concepcion said Aglibut claimed the handguns were only pawned to him as he denied involvement in any crime.
