MANILA, Philippines - A former fireman was arrested on Tuesday for misrepresenting himself as a fire inspector.
Makati City fire chief Superintendent Ricardo Pedrigon said they received a complaint from the guard of DCLB Building in Salcedo Village in Makati City that Lorenzo Navarro presented himself as a fire safety inspector of Makati City Fire Department.
When confronted by Pedrigon’s men, Navarro admitted that he’s no longer connected with the Bureau of Fire Protection but still makes transactions for BFP to refill fire extinguishers.
Navarro was arrested along with a certain Malto, 32, resident of 53 Alcacia street in Barangay Cembo also in Makati City.
“Only firemen with authority from BFP headquarters are authorized to conduct building inspection. Establishment owners should not give money to any fire inspector because any payment should be done at the city BFP office,” Pedrigon said.
