Teener arrested for car parts theft

MANILA, Philippines -  A teenager wanted for stealing parts and accessories of unattended vehicles at the Parañaque police station compound was arrested yesterday.

Maria Arabella Dalisay, 37, caught Mark Joey Jopcon, 19, taking her laptop and cellular phone worth P28,000 and P15,000 in cash in her silver Mitsubishi Lancer (TPB 285) parked near the station at old Sucat Road in Barangay San Dionisio, shortly before noon.

Jopcon, however, denied the accusation against him. He told policemen that he was meeting a certain Kuya Musa at the police station “for a taping.”

Senior Police Officer 4 Charlie Bayoca, chief of theft and robbery section, said Jopcon’s group is notorious for stealing accessories and parts of cars parked near and in the station’s compound.

“The group recently stole the battery of our service car. They even stole my spare tire,” Bayoca said, adding the group would usually strike at lunch time.
