6 hurt in Roxas Boulevard mishap

MANILA, Philippines - Six people, including a six-year-old girl, were injured when a Daihatsu Feroza slammed into a Mitsubishi Adventure at the intersection of Roxas Boulevard and Pedro Gil street in Manila before midnight Saturday.

Wilbert Danan, who was reportedly drunk, lost control of the Feroza along the boulevard’s southbound lane at around 11:30 p.m., according to a Manila Traffic District report. The Feroza hit the center island and ended up on the northbound lane, colliding with the Adventure.

Philippine Red Cross workers said Mark Anthony Padua, who drove the Adventure, had just gone to Baclaran church in Parañaque with his family and they were on their way home to Tondo when the accident happened.

The rescue workers said Danan was trapped in the driver’s seat. He was brought to the Ospital ng Maynila.

All the passengers of the Adventure suffered fractures, according to the rescue workers. Padua, who gave details of the accident to police, was the last to be brought to the Manila Doctors Hospital.
