MANILA, Philippines - A Federal Express (FedEx) cargo plane made an emergency landing at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport last night after one of its three engines broke down 11 kilometers from the airport.
The pilot, Capt. Jesse Rondestuedt, radioed the NAIA control tower at around 5:35 p.m. asking for emergency assistance due to a technical problem, according to NAIA ground operations and safety officer-in-charge Joseph Agustin.
The cargo plane left Singapore and was bound for Taipei when it experienced engine trouble. The plane, which has two crewmembers, landed safely at around 6:35 p.m., tailed by three firetrucks and one ambulance sent by the Manila International Airport Authority.
