MANILA, Philippines - Six persons, including two women were taken in for questioning after they were found “suspiciously” lurking and carrying guns in the vicinity of a bank at a mall in Quezon City yesterday.
One of those held for questioning was allegedly a Mandaluyong policeman. The suspects were accosted outside a branch of Banco de Oro at SM the Block on North EDSA at past 4 p.m., said Superintendent Audie Madrideo, commander of the Quezon City Police District-Station 2.
One of the two women was even trying to open a bank account but it was stopped because there was already a commotion,” Madrideo said.
While it has not been established if the police may have foiled what could have been a bank robbery, authorities received intelligence information as early as last week that a bank heist would occur, a police source revealed.
“This is the reason we have been on our toes since last week,” the source said.
