Cops record 20 sex attacks on dentists

MANILA, Philippines - A “pervert” is behind at least 20 cases of rape and sexual attacks against female dentists in Metro Manila and nearby provinces since August last year, police said yesterday.

The figure could be higher as police admitted some of the victims kept their ordeal to themselves, according to police.

Alarmed over the rising number of attacks on dentists, the Philippine Dental Association (PDA) raised to P500,000 the reward for information leading to the arrest of the attacker.

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Alan Purisima said they “are slowly closing in on the” sex fiend and they expect to make an arrest “anytime soon.”

Investigators said Quezon City had the highest number of cases, with 14 victims; Caloocan City, two; and one each in Marikina, Mandaluyong, Manila and Bulacan.

They said the attacker enters the dental clinic by pretending to be a client. He uses the first names Aldrin, Jeffrey, Alex and Jake and the surnames Santos, Galang, Salvador and Malawat.

Once inside the clinic, the suspect would pull out a handgun and hogtie his victims. Investigators did not say how many of the women dentists were raped, but noted that those the attacker abused were aged between 40 and 48 years old and of medium build.

Based on interviews with the victims, police said the attacker would pull down his pants and underwear and force the dentist to look while he masturbated.

Once he is done, the attacker would take the dentist’s money and personal belongings, preferring electronic gadgets, and walk out of the clinic.

NCRPO intelligence operatives noted that the attacker targeted dental clinics along unpopulated highway or streets and times his “visits” between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The attacker was described as having a round face and medium build; between 5’5” to 5’7” in height; wearing an earring in his right ear and a silver ring hanging from a necklace; and denim pants and white rubber shoes.
