Camanava traffic rows: 2 dead, 2 hurt

MANILA, Philippines - A traffic enforcer and a taxi driver were killed, while a policeman and another traffic enforcer were hurt in separate traffic altercations in the Camanava area Sunday.

At around 5:45 p.m., Navotas traffic enforcers Crisanto Roxas and Charlston Luzuriaga were reportedly shot by Joel Castillo’s unidentified back rider after they confiscated Castillo’s driver’s license and issued him a ticket for driving a motorcycle (UM-2304) without a helmet.

Roxas, 42, died of a bullet wound in the chest on the way to Tondo Medical Center while Luzuriaga, 28, is confined at the same hospital for a gunshot wound in the abdomen.

At around 10:45 p.m., brothers-in-law Cyjay Tan and Jimmy Ordinario allegedly gunned down their neighbors, taxi driver Marlon Maguigad and Police Officer 1 Mark Anthony Padua, after Padua berated them for speeding around the neighborhood in Baesa, Caloocan City on a motorcycle and endangering children playing in the street.

Maguigad, 30, died yesterday morning during surgery at the MCU Hospital for a bullet wound in the back of the head. Padua, 28, is confined at the same hospital for a gunshot wound in the back.
