Manila, Philippines - An 83-year-old widower was stabbed dead in his house in Tondo, Manila shortly before midnight Sunday.
The victim, Gregorio Bondoc, 83, was declared dead on arrival at the Mary Johnston Hospital due to six stab wounds mostly in the chest. Police said Bondoc also had defense wounds on his arms and legs.
Police said the victim’s 24-year-old grandson discovered him as he lay dying on the ground floor of his three-story house along Perla street at around 11:30 p.m.
The grandson, who was sleeping at the third floor of the house, reportedly heard neighbors’ dogs barking, prompting him to go down. He said he saw his grandfather on the cement floor.
The grandson said he last saw his grandfather alive at around 9 p.m. when he brought out the trash, which was the victim’s nightly routine.
Police said the victim was having his house renovated, but could not find any construction worker to question.
