MANILA, Philippines - A toddler aged one year and seven months was killed when a stray bullet went through the roof of his family’s house and hit him in the head while he was sleeping beside his mother in Navotas City yesterday.
Police Officer 3 Edwin Guzman reported that Justine Capili’s mother, Marisa, said she and her family were asleep when they were awakened by a noise coming from the ceiling of their house on Rolda street in Barangay Tangos. When she looked down seconds later, she saw her son’s head bleeding profusely.
Family members rushed Justine to the Dr. Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center but he died while undergoing surgery, Guzman said.
City police chief Senior Superintendent Florendo Quibuyen has ordered an investigation of the incident to identify and arrest the perpetrator.
