MANILA, Philippines - A 32-year-old taxi driver was repeatedly stabbed by two robbers in Malabon City Tuesday night.
Police Officer 3 Edsel de la Paz said Paulo Talo was fighting for his life yesterday at a hospital in Manila.
De la Paz said Talo had just parked his taxi (TWM-238) along Lapu-Lapu Avenue in Barangay Longos in Dagat-Dagatan when two men attacked him as he alighted from the cab at around 10 p.m.
One of the robbers poked a revolver against Talo’s head and took the driver’s earnings amounting to P1,070. Talo resisted and the robber fired his weapon at the victim’s head, but the gun misfired.
Talo took the opportunity to kick the robber but his other attacker came at him with a knife. The robbers fled on foot with Talo’s earnings towards Pampano street, said to be a haven of criminals in Barangay Longos. The robbers remain at large.
