MANILA, Philippines - A National Capital Region Police Office policeman, accused of masterminding last week’s hijacking with homicide case in Caloocan City, is also being tried for highway robbery and carjacking in local courts.
PO2 Amiel Arceo, alias “Anot,” assigned at the NCRPO-Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit (RPHAU), was tagged in the Jan. 26 hijacking of a cargo truck (RJL-190) carrying P600,000 detergent powder in Paco, Manila. Authorities recovered part of the stolen cargo the next day and arrested PO1 Jimbo Bondoc, assigned at the National Capital Region Maritime Police Office, who said Arceo leads the Tondo-based Anot hijacking group. At least 10 persons were charged in the case.
Arceo and PO2 Giovanni Chua, also assigned at the NCRPO-RPHAU, were named in a police report reaching the office of Northern Police District director Chief Superintendent Edgardo Ladao as allegedly involved in last Tuesday’s hijacking of a cargo truck carrying P600,000 worth of canned juice in Dagat-Dagatan, Caloocan City and in the killing of truck driver Nove Canal and his helper, Percy Surban. Arceo and Chua reportedly failed to attend the NCRPO-RPHAU inspection and accounting of personnel Thursday and Friday.
