MANILA, Philippines - Two persons were killed while seven others were injured after a passenger bus collided with a van in Quezon City at past midnight yesterday.
Traffic investigator Senior Police Officer 2 Felic Baxinela said the still unidentified driver of the Jayross bus (TXL-911) faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide, multiple physical injuries and damage to properties.
Baxinela said he demanded that the bus company give police the real name of the bus driver, who reportedly fled following the collision along Regalado Avenue in North Fairview. The driver left behind conductor Jeffrey Insisio, who claimed he did not know the driver’s real name.
The bus collided with a red Nissan Urvan (ZPV-293) and killed its driver and female passenger. Baxinela said they have identified the driver of the Urvan through his driver’s license, as Edgar Coloma.
He said they have yet to identify the van’s female passenger, who was described to be at least 35 years old, 5’3” to 5’4” in height, light-skinned, with a heavy built, and wearing denim short pants and a polo shirt.
Baxinela said the two were rushed to the Far Eastern University Hospital but were declared dead on arrival.
He said bus passengers Elgee Jiunisala, Carlo Custodio, Loraine Tugade, Rosaly Demesa, Renjo Peerez and couple Rolinda and Ferdinand Aorillisa were brought to the FEU Hospital for treatment.
The van was reportedly making a U-turn along Regalado Avenue when it was allegedly hit head-on by the bus that was running in the opposite direction.
