MANILA, Philippines - A bomb threat forced Assumption College in Barangay San Lorenzo, Makati City to suspend classes yesterday.
Makati police chief Senior Superintendent Froilan Bonifacio said a student received a text message at around 9 p.m. Sunday, warning that a bomb would explode at noon yesterday. “We will be tracing the person who sent that text message,” he said.
The student relayed the text message to the school’s security officers at around 10:30 p.m.
The Makati police bomb disposal unit conducted a sweep of the school and found no explosives. Bonifacio said a police team was stationed at the school until after noon yesterday.
Meanwhile, National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Nicanor Bartolome has warned pranksters to stop spreading false bomb threats, as they will be arrested if they are identified. He said bomb disposal units from the NCRPO have been kept busy responding to false bomb threats in Quezon City, Manila and Makati City.
