MANILA, Philippines - The Social Security System has filed charges against a restaurant reportedly run by the parents of former celebrity doctor Hayden Kho after the firm allegedly failed to remit its workers’ SSS contributions.
The SSS filed a complaint for violation of the 1997 Social Security Act before the Quezon City prosecutors’ office against officers of the Holy Face Cell Corp. based in Marikina City for not remitting P2.1 million in contributions. Holy Face runs the Tres Pares diner in Marikina.
Named as respondents were Holy Face officers Hayden Kho and Irene Kho, Edwin and Myrna Africa, Noel Espenilla Jr. and Janice Espenilla, Domingo Ifurung, and Damaso Tan.
“SSS records will show that employer Holy Face Cell Corp./Tres Pares is delinquent in the remittance of SSS premium contributions for the period from March 1994 to December 2009 (not inclusive) computed as of Oct. 31, 2010 in the amount of P2,164,027.11 inclusive of the three percent penalty,” said SSS account officer Catalina Crystal of the SSS Marikina branch.
Employers are required under the SSS Law to deduct and remit contributions for the employees.
