MANILA, Philippines - Two men were killed when a tricycle they were riding slammed against a dump truck in Pasig City at past midnight yesterday.
Police said Rudy Bagayawa, 23, was driving and Marvin Encisa, 18, was riding behind him. No one was in the tricycle’s sidecar.
Police Officer 3 Jerven Galvez said dump truck driver Rey John Mancia, 20, was negotiating a curve along East Bank Road when the tricycle rammed into the truck at around 1:45 a.m.
Witnesses said the tricycle went under the dump truck and was dragged for a few meters before Mancia could step on the brakes. It took rescue workers at least 20 minutes to untangle the bodies of Bagayawa and Encisa from the tricycle.
Mancia surrendered to police. Galvez said Mancia will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in double homicide.
