MANILA, Philippines – A decomposing body of a man was found in an otherwise empty 40-foot shipping container at the Manila Harbor Center in Tondo yesterday.
Police said the container was opened because there was a foul smell emanating from it. A worker identified the body as that of Roger Daños, 43, a stay-in warehouseman at Asia Store Resources, Inc. at the Manila Harbour Center.
The witness told police that the victim had been missing since Tuesday night, when he was last seen in the company of a sex worker.
According to the witness, Daños had been hiring the sex worker he identified as a certain “Joanne” once or twice a week for more than a month.
He described Joanne as ordinary-looking woman with tattoo of a rose surrounded by barbed wires on her right arm.
Senior Police Officer 4 Richard Lumbad said the victim sustained at least five stab wounds in the chest alone, and was wearing only briefs when he was found.
Lumbad told The STAR Daños could have been having sex with Joanne in the shipping container.
“His money and cellular phone were missing from his pants, found beside his body,” he said. Lumbad said Daños may have been killed by a members of a robbery gang using sex workers as bait.
